Here's a bit of brightness for what was a grey weekend here in the Borders. I took some of my Grannies old kitchen chairs and gave them a new coat for the winter. I thought that I would try and upcyle 365 of these and create a seating sculpture over the next few weeks. I'll install them in a high street windows to raise awareness first and then create a massive seating place. It's all for Chairaidday (gedditt !) I then thought we could have a open air (?) concert / gig and sell the seats, literally to get some bums on seats. This will build up a working fund for young artist / makers in the area wanting to get started in a hands on career. I'm not happy with the way our creative courses in schools and colleges are being axed and need to keep trad skills alive. If you have any old chairs for the project they will be really welcome. Please contact me here if you have any, preferably wooden stick backs as in the images to donate.
